I absolutely L-O-V-E me some Beyoncé.
There! I said it. Oh, okay, so I think her hubby Jay-Z, aka Shawn Carter, is okay too.

On their new album together, Everything is Love, the third track has Beyoncé proclaiming “My great-great-grandchildren already rich.”
Now that’s some serious Financial Freedom!
That seems to not be an exaggeration, as Forbes lists the powerhouse Carter couple at a combined worth of $1.25 Billion dollars…and that figure is rising.
Yes, people, that’s a Big ‘B’, as in BILLION.

However, as much as I love me some ‘Bey and Jay’, I also love saving money and getting decent concert seats at a good price.
It was announced months in advance that Beyoncé and Jay-Z would be performing their sell-out On The Run II tour (OTR II) at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.
My friends immediately started sending IM’s to see who was interested in going.
Of course, I put my name in the hat.
Our friend told us the tickets would be about $125 on Ticketmaster.
Wow, I thought, that’s a whole lot of money, but still, I was in.
Once the tickets went on sale, the realization set in, and our friend let us know the ticket prices were over $200 with the Ticketmaster fees (a total of $224 each).
Our dear friend also told us to ‘just think of it as $112 for Bey and $122 for Jay’.
Hmmnnnn…..Sorry, but that mind psychology wasn’t adding up for me.
I told him I had seen them both perform separately before, and although it had been years (many, many years) since those performances, they were still vivid in my mind.
I know…lame excuse, huh?
I passed on getting a ticket when they did our group purchase.
Over the following month, I received emails from my friend updating me on seat availability near them and how it wasn’t too late to purchase.
I just kept thinking about being on my journey to financial freedom.
Even as an adult, the peer pressure can feel strong….and remember….I do L-O-V-E me some Beyoncé.
I held fast though and did not purchase the tickets.
That is, until 4 days before the performance, when a mutual friend said she was going to purchase her ticket on Goldstar, the discount event site for live entertainment.
The price? $79 plus tax.
Yes, I told her when she asked if I wanted her to get a ticket for me.
Heck, YES!!! I couldn’t Venmo those dollars over to her quick enough.
So for $99, we got to hang out with our friends at a house pre-party, then we all carpooled over to the Rose Bowl in our four-car caravan.
After more pre-show festivities at the Rose Bowl (drinks, dancing at radio station REAL 92.3’s DJ booth, and lots of group pics) we entered the Rose Bowl for Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s OTR II show.
I smiled to myself on the way to our seats as I thought ‘I really can have everything I want…even at a discount’.
How was the show? Simply amazing.
The pyrotechnics were the best I’ve ever seen and the costumes were on point.
I had a great view for the price, and the backup singers and band were a show just by themselves.
As our friends went in one direction to their $200 plus seats, we gleefully headed to our less than $100 seats, and truly enjoyed the show.
I L-O-V-E Queen Bey even more now.
After an opening set by Chloe x Halle, the pre-show continued with DJ Khaled and a roll of surprise guests, from Ella Mai (Boo’d Up) to old school artist, Tank, and more.
Then Beyoncé and Jay-Z came on and righteously ‘SET IT OFF!!!’ for the next 2 hours or so.
I was still smiling and in a state of amazement on how wonderful the show was as we exited the Rose Bowl.
The next time you’re on the fence about attending a concert because of the price, why not see if one of the discount ticket sellers like Goldstar or Ticketstub offers tickets at a price that’s more favorable for your wallet or purse.
Meanwhile, here are two of my favorite Saturday Night Live skits on Beyoncé. The first one is Maya Rudolph as Beyoncé and the other is Justin Timberlake in a dance skit with Beyoncé.
They’re older skits, but let me know in the comments before if you’ve seen them before.

I’m also looking to save money on concert tickets. Between convenience fees and parking, a $50 ticket can morph into a bill payment.
I’ve also used eBay and StubHub for cheap concert tiks.
