Have you been considering the idea of starting a blog and sharing your creative thoughts with the world?
There’s no time like the present to get started.
Blogging can also be a great way to build up a passive stream of income.
Here are five easy steps to get you going and have your blog up and running in no time.
For these instructions, I’ll use the term website and blog interchangeable.

1. Decide what you want to write about and what niche.
I am on a financial journey to build wealth and share those ideas with others.
I knew I wanted my blog to be about financial freedom, something that I have a very keen interest in.
My niche is personal finance.
What are your interests that you could blog about?
Are you undecided on what you want to blog about?
My suggestion is to get a sheet of paper and writing down various things you’re interested in to help you narrow down your blog choice.
2. See if the domain name is available.
Now that you’ve decided what you’re going to write or blog about, you will need a name for your blog, known as your domain name.
My domain name or website name is aLifeofFinancialFreedom.com.
You will need to check to make sure that nobody else has already ‘taken’ or reserved that name.
You can check the name availability at Bluehost.com by clicking on Domains.
That’s okay if your first choice name is already taken.
Just play around with some variations of the name until you find one that you really like that is also available.
If you can, make the name simple to remember.
3. Use Bluehost as the host provider for your new domain name
You’ve found an available domain name (your website name) and next you will need a home for your blog to reside on.
This is known as your host or host provider.
There are several host providers you can choose from.
I am recommending Bluehost.com because they offer a FREE Domain, a special intro offer of $3.95/month with a 30-day money back guarantee and 24/7 Support, and I also use them as my host for the blog you’re reading at this very moment.
4. Install WordPress
Bluehost makes installing WordPress very easy and a one step process – and it’s FREE.
WordPress is the tool that allows you to now start setting up and designing your blog.
- Log in to your Bluehost cPanel account.
- Find the Website section and select Install WordPress.
- Click the Install button.
5. Download a free template
WordPress has a selection of free templates for designing your website.
You may also choose to be a little more elaborate and select one of their themes that cost.
Congratulations!
