But why did I have to think about it first?
One of my best friends in Atlanta asked me to spend most of the summer in W. Africa (the Ivory Coast) with her and her family.
It wasn’t the first time I would be visiting the Ivory Coast, as I had traveled with her to her home in Africa over 20 years ago — before she got married, had kids, and now an amazing granddaughter…and well before my move to Los Angeles.
Initially, I told her ‘I don’t know…I’ll think about it’.
Have you ever said those words to an incredible offer???
At first, I considered going for a week or two. Yes, all the way to W. Africa to literally turn around and come back home.
Then I came to my senses…
I realized that I was retired and any freelance work I was doing could be done anywhere — via my new Laptop Luxury Lifestyle.
So, I said ‘Yes’.
And I had an incredible summer.

Then I returned to Los Angeles and continued my ‘Yes’ trend.
Yes to my two younger niece’s flying to L.A. to visit me for 2 weeks.
Yes to flying with them to Hawaii.
Yes to rollercoaster thrills and the water park at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
Yes to a friend’s offer to treat me to box seats to see Grammy award winner Ledisi sing Nina Simone at the Hollywood Bowl with the L.A. Phil Orchestra.
Yes to a friend’s pool party where I met an amazing contact person for future collaborations.
Yes to the glass Skywalk at the Grand Canyon (my nerves are still recovering…lol).
Yes to that beautiful night helicopter ride with my sister to see Las Vegas by night.
Yes to being a speaker at this year’s FinCon21 (financial blogger & content creator conference) in Austin, TX.
Yes to having my ebook accepted as a product in the Ultimate Bundles sale.
Yes to being interviewed after a movie prescreening of Aretha Franklin’s RESPECT, starring Jennifer Hudson, and ending up in the RESPECT commercial…I was in 3 scenes throughout the commercial!
Yes to still to wearing a face mask… and all the other YES moments that have occurred this year.
Final Thoughts
I am still reveling in the fine points of being ‘retired’.
I feel blessed that I’m able to work on my side hustle freelance work from any corner of the world.
Are you remaining open to opportunities and blessings that flow your way?
Don’t let those incredible YES moments pass you by.
It’s okay to Say ‘Yes’.
